Relationships are a way forward
It is people who will pave the way forward, and we are here to work together effectively, meaningfully, and in support of one another.
How we work:
- We leverage one another’s strengths and expertise in new ways. We look for partners who will challenge and learn alongside us.
- We seek collaborations, not transactional exchanges of services. We take the time to get to know each other and identify how we can support each other’s work. Genuinely understanding each other’s goals and how they connect to our common purpose enables us to have the greatest impact.
- We build relationships that evolve and adapt, relationships that are responsive to and supportive of our partners’ contexts, responsibilities, and challenges.
- We balance reflection with action. The process of developing lasting solutions to persistent problems of educational practice is complex — as complex as the systems in which we live and work. We create space for reflection and deliberation to better understand educational challenges and connect leaders with expertise to develop useful and timely solutions.
- We recognize that partners have complementary knowledge and expertise. Working across organizational boundaries in close relationships makes it possible to solve all kinds of challenges we cannot solve alone.

We work to connect the people who can evolve education in new and meaningful ways
When we have space to work across the boundaries of our organizations and grapple with big questions, we can develop solutions to the emerging and enduring challenges of education that serve every community and community member – solutions that help educators navigate the systems in which we all work – and find more effective ways to attend to individual differences and strengths. By providing opportunities for educators and leaders to come together, IPiE fosters collaboration and innovation, enabling us to tackle challenges and shape the future of education.
We create spaces for dialogue to learn about how educational systems operate, how to navigate and change them, and how to ensure that every learner and educator has the support to succeed. Dialogue where we consider new approaches with one another, where we examine how we are going about education now, and and where ask ourselves what is working, what is not, who is benefiting, who is not — and why. Dialogue where we learn, respect, invest, and build relationships.
JOINING FORCES ALLOWS US TO DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY
Educational systems can be challenging and complex. Joining forces to seek solutions enables us to see challenges as opportunities to do things differently. The Institute for Partnerships in Education was created to combine strengths, pool resources, connect needs with expertise, create spaces for people and organizations to do what they do best — and, ultimately, to redesign educational systems that provide opportunity for all.
The Institute for Partnerships in Education creates opportunities to:
- Connect the university community with educators and leaders across the Piedmont-Triad region and beyond
- Provide education professionals with access to new knowledge
- Seek resources for innovative programs
- Build infrastructure for sustainable cross-organizational collaborations
- Generate useful and timely knowledge to inform decisions
- Create experiential learning opportunities for UNCG students
