The returning Girls Who Game club members at Northwest Guilford Middle School wasted no time this fall recruiting new members. The girls took the initiative to create and present their own recruitment campaign for the 2024-2025 school year. They were eager to take on leadership roles and begin building strong relationships with new members.
Leadership and initiative. Those are just a couple of the many skills participants of the Dell Technologies sponsored Girls Who Game Clubs develop as they navigate the world of Minecraft. Girls Who Game is a 12-week extracurricular program created by Dell Technologies alongside Microsoft and Intel. It provides an opportunity for underserved students to learn about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through gaming, while also developing leadership skills. During the program, clubs develop and use these skills while engaging in a challenge of solving a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal. This season’s challenge is to create a sustainable forest biome in the world of Minecraft. Clubs can submit their solutions to compete on a regional, national, or global level. Feedback is shared with clubs and awards are distributed to clubs whose solutions stand out.
